We Grow Memories

About Liberty Ridge FArm

DEX_0002.jpg

A short drive off of Highway I-87, take a few twists and turns up through Stillwater, cross a bridge and you might just stumble across 100 acres set alongside the Hoosic River. Liberty Ridge Farm has been a working farm since the 1700s, but in 2000, owners Robert and Cynthia Gifford had a vision for a new crop: memories.

The first fall festival season was simple: a corn maze and a check-in table. Fast forward 25 years and the Fall Festival has evolved to include over 50 hands-on activities.

The Farm has progressed through two generations of Giffords as corn farmers and continues to add crops, new activities and remain a destination for Capital Region families to visit each fall.

- OUR MISSION -

As stewards of this farmland, we are cultivating spaces for families to grow memories that will last a lifetime.

What’s Growing?

Cattle Corn

Since 1973 the Giffords have been growing feed corn. Cattle corn is the primary crop grown at Liberty Ridge Farm. 55-acres of corn spans across the farm. Fall Festival guests experience what a cornfield is like hands-on in our 10-acre cornfield maze. After the fall season, the corn is harvested by combine and sent to market where is is used to produce feed for livestock.

Blueberries

In the year 2004, the farm planted 770 blueberry bushes. Blue Crop and Blue Ray are the two varieties that make up our crop. Each spring, our farmhands take to the field to prune the oldest growth and some of the new growth off each bush. This allows more energy to be geared to producing big juicy blueberries. Primarily, our berries are sold wholesale at market. But nothing makes us happier than seeing folks enjoy farm-grown blueberries when out in our pick-your-own field!

Pumpkins

25 different varieties of pumpkins and squashes are planted each June, spanning 12-acres of crop fields. Kandy Korn is one of our smallest pumpkin varieties, producing a pumpkin the size of an apple. Farm guests send over 16,000 of these pumpkins soaring through the sky each fall season at the Pumpkin Cannon attraction. Tens of thousands of pumpkins and squash are harvested each fall. Large varieties such as Secretariat create the perfect carving pumpkin!

Flowers

2020 was the first year we planted 4-acres of Sunflowers. In 2023, we added Zinnias to our cut flower selections. Offering u-pick to our customers and photo opportunities in beautiful lush flower fields. Sunflowers are a great rotation crop to promote soil health.
