Upstate NY Farm announces Job Fair for Fall Season

SCHAGHTICOKE, NY (06/16/2011)(readMedia)– Amidst bad economic news on jobs, one local upstate farm announces Job Fair.

Liberty Ridge Farm has been a staple in the community for 12 years and in these times they are able to offer much needed jobs to the local community. “We all want to hear some good news right now and providing local jobs is good news, we couldn’t have done it without the communities support over these past years.” said Cynthia Gifford, Owner of Liberty Ridge Farm. “With all the early rain in the season we see our Blueberries and Raspberries ripening early, so we are in need of Berry pickers immediately, we see this as a good sign for the beginning of our 12th season.”

The Liberty Ridge Farm market has seen an increase in demand over the past few years it has grown from just berries into offering a larger selection of produce and vegetables. “We saw an increase in demand for more variety and we want to accommodate our customers” Said Cynthia Gifford.

Summer employment positions on the farm start on July 8th for Blueberry Pickers. A berry picker can make as much as they like based on how much they pick, typically up to $10 an hr. Liberty Ridge Farm Market offers Pick your own blueberries and raspberries along with the best in local fruit and vegetables! The Liberty Ridge Farm Market promotes sustainability and community through the commitment to local food and agriculture. Purchasing farm fresh in-season corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zucchini and peppers offers families a great introduction to eating seasonally. Families can bring their own containers or use one of the farm’s to ‘pick-your-own’ fresh grown blueberries and raspberries by the pound, or buy fresh picked at the Farm Market counter. Local fresh produce will be available through the end of the growing season in late October. Blueberry picking starts mid- July and runs through August. Raspberry picking starts in August and goes until the first frost.

Liberty Ridge Farm announced a Job Fair scheduled for August 27 from 9am -2pm for Fall Employment opportunities. They have a positions including: Administrative Assistant, Bakery Service, Food Service, Attendants, Cashiers, Animal Care Giver, Haunt Actors, and General Maze and Farm Staff. The qualifications you need are a willingness to exceed customer’s expectations and the commitment to work during the short FALL season! Liberty Ridge Farm is an Agri-tourism experience, a place to use your special talents…a place to hold your first job or a place to earn extra holiday money. Liberty Ridge Farm Offers Campers A Day of Fun and Adventure!

— Feb 23, 2011 / ( — The Capital Region’s premier agritourism destination opens its gates to summer camp groups for a day of adventure on the farm. Campers experience an awesome time navigating the Capital Region’s largest corn maze and engaging in Brad’s Barnyard activities, full of fun and learning.
Liberty Ridge Farm‘s field trip is both educational and fun,” said Cynthia Gifford, Owner Liberty Ridge Farm. “In addition to fun in the area’s largest corn maze, kids can experience over 30 educational and fun adventures in Brad’s Barnyard Activities. Not far from anywhere in the Capital Region, Liberty Ridge Farm in Schaghticoke is the perfect place to grow imaginations.”
Farm Adventures begin July 20th and go through September 2nd and are offered every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Groups enjoy three hours on the farm at $8.50 per camper, with no admission charge for staff. A farm fresh option is picking ½ pint of the freshest blueberries to take home for additional $2.
Campers can bring their own bagged lunch, or we offer our farm lunch for an additional $5. TheFarm Hand Lunch includes a hot dog, bag of chips, a bottle of water and our own freshly picked blueberries, served family style. Lunch is served at the “Pitch Fork” (our outdoor kitchen) and at the time specified when placing the order. Picnic tables and shaded areas are available for everyone to enjoy their lunches.
