June 25th, 2012 by adminLiberty Ridge Farm Market offers Pick your own blueberries and raspberries and fresh picked blueberries and raspberries that promote sustainability and community through our commitment to growing local food and agriculture. Blueberry season opens July 1st offering families a great introduction to eating seasonally. Families can bring their own containers or use one of the farm’s to ‘pick-your-own’ fresh grown blueberries by the pound, or buy fresh picked at the Farm Market counter. Local fresh produce will be available through the end of the growing season in late October. Blueberry picking starts mid- July and runs through August. Raspberry picking starts in August and goes until the first frost.
Blueberries are the second most popular berry in the United States , Strawberries are the first most popular. They are an excellent source of Vitamin C and Vitamin A, just one cup provides nearly one-third of an adults daily requirement. Just after our July harvest of Blueberries, Raspberry season begins Late July early August.
