Schaghticoke, NY, November 3, 2008. The Democrats won the Election 08 ‘Vote with Your Feet’ campaign by a wide margin, Liberty Ridge Farm announced today. The final tally, counted yesterday as the Liberty Ridge Farm Fall Festival Season concluded, found the Democrats had received 59% of the 3257 total ballots cast.
The final ballot count found 1908 in the Democrats milk can, and 1349 ballots in the Republican milk can. The Capital Regions original corn maze, The Election 08 12-acre maze featured the Republican Elephant, the Democrat Donkey, and Troy’s own Uncle Sam inviting all to vote. Every attendee, 4 to 94, were offered the opportunity to ‘vote with your feet’ and cast their ballot while making their way through the labyrinth of Election themed paths and passageways.
Special ‘ballot’ tickets provided every attendee the opportunity to cast a vote for the party of their choice in the Election 08 Corn Maze. Liberty Ridge Farm provided ‘passports’ to help visitors navigate the maze with questions based on the election process.
“The Election 08 Corn Maze generated a lot of excitement, and we had a great turnout for this year’s Fall Festival of events.” said Cynthia Gifford, owner of Liberty Ridge Farm. “I want to thank all who helped make the Election 08 Corn Maze possible.” Gifford extended thanks and recognition to media partners Time Warner News 9, Capital Tonight, and Buzz 105.7, to Pioneer Seed, a DuPont Company, for the corn seed used in the maze, and to Salem Farm Supply for use of a commercial Cub Cadet Tank mower to cut the maze. Special thanks were extended to the Liberty Ridge Farm staff and to the Rensselaer County League of Women Voters for providing election process information used in the Maze Passport.
